Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a CO2 LCA and Validation analyst. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate quantification and validation of the CO2 emissions of products listed on our business-to-customer e-commerce platform. Your primary focus will be evaluating and developing lifecycle assessments and utilizing industry best practices to validate the CO2 footprint of each product.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that lifecycle assessments (LCA) are available at the best possible resolution to describe the CO2 emissions associated with each product listed on the e-commerce platform.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to collect relevant data and information needed for accurate CO2 footprint calculation.
- Ensure that CO2 emissions are quantified using industry best practices and methodologies, allowing for apples-to-apples comparison of products within the platform.
- Review and validate the accuracy and credibility of CO2 emissions data provided by manufacturers and suppliers.
- Develop alternative methodologies to estimate CO2 emissions where detailed data are not readily available.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in LCA methodologies and industry standards to continually improve the accuracy and reliability of CO2 footprint calculations.
- Collaborate with the product management team to develop strategies for promoting products with low CO2 footprints to customers.
- Support the marketing and communications team in accurately communicating the environmental impact of products to customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of lifecycle assessment methodologies and experience in conducting LCAs.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for quantifying CO2 emissions.
- Knowledge of carbon accounting principles and familiarity with greenhouse gas (GHG) protocols.
- Ability to critically analyze data, identify discrepancies, and validate CO2 emissions information.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, manufacturers, and suppliers.
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and understanding of product listing processes is a plus.
- Passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving positive environmental change.
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
